Emma Staddon lullaboo creations

After picking up the paint brushes that my Jack Russell "Archie" has playfully placed around (he really thinks he is helping), I can begin. I have to confess I get excited about a new idea and will often drop everything to start paintings. I never want painting to become a chore so I will always go with spontaneity that comes to me. I try and keep my paintings very gender neutral and complimentary to popular nursery themes. I like to think that the paintings can be passed on to each new baby's nursery.

I work in several types of media one of my favourites is charcoal, I love the dramatic but soft feeling it gives, a complete contrast to the subtle colours in my painting. I have often heard my husband describe my personal style as simple but elegant, and I think it's a great way to describe my paintings; my work must be a true reflection of me.

I like to believe that within every painting, there is a story, this is the inspiration for my paintings, knowing that each "little one" will see a completely different story than the last. If the pleasure and excitement I receive from creating my paintings is experienced by the children who view them, then I have achieved my goal!
